Horace Dutton 1893 – 1916

Horace Dutton was the brother of Mary Thomson (Dutton) “Auntie Mary” as we knew her. They were born in England and emigrated to Canada sometime in the early 20th century. They settled in Meadford, Ontario. On April 5, 1915, Horace enlisted in the Canadian Infantry, Ontario Regiment, 3rd Batallion. After a very short basic training, he was shipped off to France arriving at Boulogne on June 17th, 1915. He died on June 13, 1916. His body was never found.

He was immortalized with his name engraved on the

Menin Gate Memorial in Belgium.
